My Dragon Con Report

This year’s Dragon Con was again a huge event that took over multiple square blocks of downtown Atlanta. If you haven’t been or don’t know exactly what Dragon Con is, let me try to explain it in a few words. It’s a 4 day long convention, spanning over Labor Day weekend, which is a celebration of everything “nerdy”. If there was a nerd encyclopedia, you would be able to find a person to represent every entry in that book. From what I heard, the attendance this year was around 55,000. That’s a lot of concentrated activity for that sized of an area. Even during the wee morning hours, the amount of commotion still going on is a sight to see.

One of the best parts of Dragon Con is that there is always something to do for every nerd attending. You can go to panels and discuss your favorite interests or meet a star from your favorite movie or tv series. If that isn’t your bag, one of my favorite things is having a tasty adult beverage and people watching. This is entertaining because many people dress up in costume as one of their favorite things. Whether it’s a character from a movie or their favorite cartoon creature, it’s amazing that every time you turn your head you see something new and interesting.

Along with these events, most attendees want to spend their money on items and autographs to build up their nerd collection. With the amount of people at Dragon Con, I can’t imagine how much money is exchanged throughout the long weekend. These people hopefully have a good job to be able to cover these expenses. If they don’t, then maybe Peak Resource Group can help them find the job of their dreams and give them the ability to have a great weekend each year at D*Con. Also, I got to meet Michael Rooker, from Walking Dead fame.
